Prof. Mamas (Mamantos) Prodromidis obtained his B.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Chemistry at the University of Ioannina. He is a full professor of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Ioannina since May 2017. His research interest focused on the development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors, the production of nanoparticles with spark discharge, the development of low-cost analytical devices for point-of-care analysis, bipolar electrochemistry, the development of nanostructured electro catalysts, and the design & fabrication of screen-printing electrodes and electrochemical cells. He has published more than 110 articles (>3000 citations, h-index 32) in peer-reviewed journals (mean I.F>5.6), five review articles, three book chapters and he also holds one patent. He is the author of the textbook “Electrochemical Sensors and Biosensors” (In Greek, 241 pages, Kostarakis, Athens, 2014). He has supervised 15 MSc. and 4 Ph.D students while 3 MSc. and 4 Ph.D theses are in progress. Prof. Prodromidis has been visiting researcher/professor in several Universities in Italy, UK, Germany, Spain and Miami. He has been attended more than 30 national, European, and international conferences and he has delivered 29 oral presentations, 19 of them after invitation.
Since 2015 he has been the coordinator of the Euraxess point in the region of Epirus, and he has elected as head of the Section of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry for the period December 2017-August 2019.

Member of Institute of Materials Science and Computing (I.M.S.C.)

Prof. M. Prodromidis is a member of the Institute of Materials Science and Computing (I.M.S.C.), an autonomous scientific and research unit affiliated with the University Research Center of Ioannina. I.M.S.C is staffed with University of Ioannina faculty members and eminent scientists whose research is directly related to the fields of Materials Science, Technology and Engineering. Research Interests and Facilities

Our group occupies a space of about 120 m2, which is consisted of two independent laboratories: The main laboratory (70 m2), and the recently established (September 2018) (52 m2) “Screen-printing Unit”, both located at the main building of the Department of Chemistry. Our group has a wide instrumentation capability comprising of three electrochemical workstations equipped with frequency response analyzers, a quartz crystal microbalance, several devices for current/voltage measurements (impedance analyzers, LCR-meters, power supplies), a stereoscope 68Ox, a flow injection analysis manifold, various equipments for handling and immobilization of biomolecules, casting of thin polymer films, toposelective generation of nanoparticles by spark discharge, synthesis of nanomaterials, and sample preparation. In addition, the infrastructure of the group includes a high resolution semi-automatic screen-printer EKRA E2, a mechanical stretching table, a self-contained exposure unit, and an infra-red belt dryer. Our group also has access to a range of heavy equipments such as, XRD, SEM-EDS, NMR, DTG, Raman, FTIR, AFM etc. being available in the Department of Chemistry or in the common facilities of UOI.

Our group is integrated within the area of Chemical Sensors and Biosensors and its main research interests include the development of enzyme biosensors, impedimetric biosensors, the design, development and fabrication of integrated electrochemical cells for applications in clinical, food and environmental chemistry, the generation of metal nanoparticles with spark discharge, the development of nanostructured electro catalysts, the development of analytical devices based on bipolar electrochemistry as well as the development of portable analytical devices for point-of-care applications.
